MDS-PAS School for Young Neurologists

Course Description

The MDS-PAS School for Young Neurologists is an opportunity for young neurologists who are interested in specializing in Movement Disorders to receive in-depth instruction from internationally-recognized Movement Disorders experts.

Students will attend large lectures and panel discussions with question and answer sessions and will have the opportunity to examine patients with movement disorders and engage in a differential diagnosis with the international experts.

Students will present their own case-study videos to small groups for discussion and critique, and will be involved in group presentations and case discussions. Topics will focus on parkinsonism, hyperkinetic disorders and complex issues in movement disorders.

Recommended Audience

This course is intended for young neurologists within five years of their completion of general neurological training who are interested in specializing in movement disorders, and young neurologists who are already training in movement disorders. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to accomplish the following:

  • Examine a patient with a movement disorder
  • Reach a diagnosis on straightforward movement disorders cases
  • Propose a differential diagnosis on more complex movement disorders patients
  • Present a movement disorders case history
  • Design, review and modify a patient treatment plan

Call for Hosts

The MDS-PAS Education Committee is currently accepting applications to serve as a host for upcoming MDS-PAS Schools for Young Neurologists.

If you are interested in hosting a School for Young Neurologists, please Read Requirements and view a Sample Course Agenda to host a PAS School for Young Neurologists. Also, provide the some basic information about your institution in order to be considered for hosting in the upcoming years

Application Instructions

To apply to host an upcoming school for young neurologists, please submit a letter of intent to the MDS Secretariat at Education@movementdisorders.org.

The letter of intent should address the host requirements and include the following information:

1. Host name(s) and contact information
2. Institution name, city, and country
3. Brief description of available facilities. Description of clinical space, lecture space, and catering/coffee break space. Kindly include whether all program space (clinical examination and lecture room) is located in the same building or in different buildings.
4. Additional information about host institution and/or city which may be pertinent to site selection
5. Include the anticipated dates for which you could serve as host (i.e. February 2017, October 2017, etc.)
