Ambassador Program

Roles & Responsibilities

The following information outlines the roles and responsibilities of each party involved in the planning and implementation of the Ambassador Program.

HOST
The applicant(s) will be the Local Organizer/Host. The responsibilities of the Host are as follows:

  • Submit a completed Ambassador Program application.
    • The application submission is to include the dates and program materials for the regional meeting with a timetable, and 3 suggested regional speakers with the suggested presentation topic(s).
    • The submission must also include the current CV of the Host.
  • Provide comfortable lodging accommodations, meals, local transportation, and ensure safety for the Ambassador(s) at the cost of the Host, while in the host country.
  • Provide the printing of course material, and other expenses related to the speaker's presentation.
  • Ensure that all presentation materials are prepared in a timely fashion for distribution at the onset of the presentation.
  • Organize the translation of presentation materials, if necessary.
  • Publicize the speaker to the local medical and healthcare community.
  • Ensure that program evaluation forms are completed by attendees.
    • These completed forms will be submitted to the MDS International Secretariat for tabulation.
    • Evaluation forms may be translated, if necessary.
  • Compose a short article for the MDS newsletter "Moving Along" regarding the program's highlights.
  • When appropriate, work with the International Secretariat to develop a post-workshop questionnaire to assess the program's impact on the physician's practice.

AMBASSADORS
Ambassadors must be members of MDS and are selected based on their level of expertise in their relative fields. The responsibilities of the Ambassadors are as follows:

  • Discuss the presentation content and format with the Host to ensure that all educational objectives are appropriate and achievable.
  • Prepare and present talks and materials in a manner that is relevant to, and comprehensible by, the participants from the host country.
  • Meet all timelines provided by the Host, particularly those related to the submission of presentation materials for printing and distribution to attendees.
  • Assist in ensuring that evaluation forms are completed by presentation attendees.
  • Submit a final summary report of the program to the MDS Education Committee, via the MDS International Secretariat.
    • This report should include an overview of the program, including its strengths and areas for improvement.

MDS INTERNATIONAL SECRETARIAT
The responsibilities of the MDS International Secretariat are to:

  • Assist Host in developing application for Ambassador program.
  • Process incoming Ambassador Program applications, providing them to the Education Committee for review and approval.
  • Draft and send invitations to the Ambassador(s), as well as the award letter for the Host
  • Provide MDS membership information and other materials to the host for distribution to attendees of the presentation.
  • Provide MDS introductory slides to Ambassador(s) to be included in presentation.
  • Provide evaluation forms to the Host and tabulate evaluation results following the completion of the presentation.
  • Process honorarium for the Ambassador(s).
  • Provide the MDS Education Committee with the Ambassador's presentation report and evaluation results.
