November 2012

Mariella Graziano A growing number of health professionals, specifically non-physicians with a special interest in movement disorders, are visiting our webpage for useful information about the interdisciplinary care and the unique contribution provided by each discipline. Current articles include the following: nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, genetics, social work, speech therapy, sexual health, clinical psychology/neuropsychology, and dietetics/nutrition.

This is encouraging as it allows members of the multidisciplinary team across the world to benefit from the already existing resources provided on The Movement Disorder society’s website. For example, on the main MDS website, a section titled “More Features” provides clinicians, researchers and other health professionals with the latest information ranging from a variety of rating scales, a multimedia section/video library, to the MDS-UPDRS Training Program & Exercise, along with an interesting section on the history of The Movement Disorder Society. Visit the “More Features” section and you will certainly find a useful tool to enhance your clinical work or your research initiative.

The highlight of the Society’s work continues to be the annual International Congress. Every year MDS gathers thousands of the field's clinicians, researchers, trainees and industry supporters to share ideas, encourage interest among all those involved in the care and research of Movement Disorders, to participate in the activities of MDS and to advance the related clinical and scientific discipline.

17th International Congress a Gathering Place for Health Professionals

The 17th International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders takes place in Sydney, Australia, June 16-20, 2013. We hope to meet many old and new friends from across the world and especially health professionals from Australia and the Asian Oceanian region.
