The Section coordinated the Movement Disorders program for the 2011 EFNS Congress held in Budapest and has lined up an excellent program for the EFNS Annual Congress in Stockholm, 8-11 September, 2012.
The Chair of the MDS-European Section also serves as Chair of the joint EFNS/MDS-ES Scientist Panel on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, to ensure cohesion of the two organizations' Movement Disorders activities in Europe. Outside the EFNS annual congress, MDS-ES is responsible for developing and sponsoring the Movement Disorders programming for EFNS Workshops in Eastern Europe.
The Scientist Panel created Task Forces to develop recommendations for the management of Parkinson’s disease, and collaborated on guidelines for the management of Dystonia, which were first published in 2006 in the European Journal of Neurology, and updated for publication in the European Handbook of Neurology in 2010.
