MDS-ES and European Federation of Neurological Societies Collaboration

Under the terms of a formal collaboration between MDS-ES and the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) MDS-ES is responsible for organizing and overseeing all Movement Disorders activities during the annual EFNS Congress. MDS-ES and EFNS fund up to 20 bursaries for juniors to attend the EFNS Congress to present papers on Movement Disorders, details of Congress registration and how to apply for bursaries can be found on the EFNS website: www.efns.org;

The Section coordinated the Movement Disorders program for the 2011 EFNS Congress held in Budapest and has lined up an excellent program for the EFNS Annual Congress in Stockholm, 8-11 September, 2012.

The Chair of the MDS-European Section also serves as Chair of the joint EFNS/MDS-ES Scientist Panel on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, to ensure cohesion of the two organizations'  Movement Disorders activities in Europe. Outside the EFNS annual congress, MDS-ES is responsible for developing and sponsoring the Movement Disorders programming for EFNS Workshops in Eastern Europe.

The Scientist Panel created Task Forces to develop recommendations for the management of Parkinson’s disease, and collaborated on guidelines for the management of Dystonia, which were first published in 2006 in the European Journal of Neurology, and updated for publication in the European Handbook of Neurology in 2010.
