European Section Objectives
All MDS members living and working in Europe are automatically members of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society - European Section (MDS-ES) and are warmly welcomed to participate in the Section's activities, and to contribute to the development of the specialty of Movement Disorders throughout Europe.
MDS-ES is the premier organization for promulgating teaching, new research and therapeutic endeavours in movement disorders throughout Europe. Through our formal affiliation with the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS), we encourage general neurologists to develop a special interest in Movement Disorders and become members of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS). The MDS-ES is also responsible for the entire Movement Disorders program during the EFNS Annual Congress.
The European Section is investigating the development of training curricula for use in Europe and criteria for Movement Disorder Centers of Excellence. MDS-ES helps and encourages colleagues in Eastern Europe to develop the field of Movement Disorders and ensures that top opinion leaders from outside Europe are also actively involved in MDS-ES courses. We are developing fruitful links with neuroscientific groups involved in basal ganglia research through pan-European collaborations, focused workshops and scientific meetings.
Please encourage your colleagues and junior staff to join the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and to collaborate with MDS-ES in promoting our specialty throughout Europe.
