An Educational Course on Movement Disorders was organized at Vadodara, Gujarat, India on the 2nd of December in association with The Movement Disorder Society-Asian and Oceanian Section. Movement Disorder experts from various states in India jointly conducted the course. This course was coordinated by Prof. Madhuri Behari, Professor and Head of Department, Dept. of Neurology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
The faculty comprised Prof. Madhuri Behari (New Delhi), Dr. Kalyanbrata Bhattacharya (Kolkata), Dr. Pettarusp Wadia (Mumbai) and Dr. Charulata Sankhla (Mumbai).
The purpose of the course wasto generate interest in the field of Movement Disordersand to educate physicians in diagnosis and treatment of common movement disorders. The format included educative lectures on movement disorders with videos bought by the faculty. It covered the entire spectrum of Parkinson's disease and a variety of hyperkinetic movement disorders. Inaddition there were 3 separate interactive video sessions also.
This CME was very well received and there was an active participation of the delegates till the end. There were about 140 delegates and the audience included clinicians, psychiatrists, pediatricians and medical students. All the participants received 3 credit points by the Gujarat Medical Council for the CME.
