Course Purpose

This interactive module provides learners with information regarding acute dystonia and akathisia including the medications that cause each disorder, risk factors, pathophysiology, and the treatment options available.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. List the common medications and describe the clinical presentation and risk factors that cause acute dystonic reactions and akathisia
2. Explain the current theories regarding pathophysiology of acute dystonic reactions and akathisia
3. List current treatment options for acute dystonic reactions and akathisia

Intended Audience

This module is intended for neurologists, primary care physicians with an interest in movement disorders, neurology residents and movement disorder fellows.

Hardware and Software Requirements
