Program Description

The MDS Evaluation and Management of Postural Instability and Gait course will provide a comprehensive overview of brain circuits involved in posture and gait as well as an overview of the dopaminergic, cholinergic, and noradinergic pathways and their role in postural instability and gait disorders.

Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to provide information on evaluation and management of postural instability and gait.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to:
1. Discuss the pathophysiology of postural instability and gait disorders in Parkinson’s disease
2. Evaluate clinical manifestations and postural instability and gait disorders in Parkinson's disease
3. Describe non-pharmacological therapeutic options for postural instability and gait disorders in Parkinson's disease

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for health professionals, neurologists, primary care physicians with an interest in movement disorders, neurology residents and movement disorder fellows.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
