Task Force on Huntington's Disease

Christopher Ross

Francisco Cardoso and Ralf Reilmann, Co-Chairs

MDS Staff Liaison: Kristy Moeller

Task Force Purpose

The Task Force on the Definition of Huntington’s Disease will select and convene a committee of HD experts, with involvement of patient and family representatives, to discuss diagnostic categories for Huntington’s disease.  The accompanying articles (Ross et al 2014 and Reilmann et al 2014) indicate some of our initial thoughts on the topic.  The Minutes of our initial meeting are also available.

The Task Force will produce a set of recommendations for diagnostic classifications of HD, for consideration for the International Classification of Diseases and other groups.  We will produce relevant publications and possibly educational material for patients and families for dissemination by lay and patient advocacy organizations.
