Call for Social Media Editor

The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) is seeking nominations for a Social Media Editor for the Society's social channels.

This new position will serve a three (3) year term, beginning in September 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities

The MDS Social Media Editor will oversee the efficient and accurate dissemination of information about the initiatives and activities of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) through social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The Editor will work with the MDS Communications staff to review content in accordance with the annual Society content calendar, review analytics, strategize on best social media practices, promote initiatives and activities, and enhance the overall awareness and visibility of MDS through its social media platforms.

Reporting Structure

The Social Media Editor will select an Editorial Board with diverse regional and gender representation. The Editorial Board will be expected to meet regularly to review content, discuss strategies and review basic analytics, in addition to meeting at the International Congress. The Editor is responsible for providing bi-annual reports to the MDS Communications Oversight Committee (COC), as well as the MDS Officers. These reports include both editorial successes and challenges, as well as suggestions for improvement. Additionally, any budgetary requests or new projects would need the review and approval of both the COC and the Officers.
 

Qualifications

  • Must be a current Member of MDS
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of various social media platforms and have accounts on at least two of the three major platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
  • Must be active and regularly posting content on at least one social media account.
     

Nominations

Nominations for the MDS Social Media Editor should include a statement of the nominee’s personal details (e.g., name, affiliated institution, address, email, phone/fax etc.), qualifications, relevant experience, and a brief CV (or CVs if co-editors) including experience with respect to editing. Candidates should also submit a strategic vision for the Society’s social media platforms, specifically addressing the following questions:

  • What is your vision for MDS Social Media?
  • What strategies would you like to see changed, added, and/or preserved?
  • What skills will you bring to the position?
