The field of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders is underserved in China with a population of 1.3 billion. The understanding of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders is rapidly evolving. Numerous therapeutic medical and surgical treatment options are available in the market.
The China Continuing Education Classes for Parkinson and Movement Disorders is intended to provide up to date discussion on Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders and all available advanced therapies in the field. This will be the first educational course of this magnitude on Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders in China.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to accomplish the following:
Better understanding of clinical phenomenology of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders
List the treatments available for the management of motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease
Give an overview on clinical description and treatment of atypical parkinsonism and hyperkinetic movement disorders
Provide an overview of the selection process of candidates for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in movement disorders – especially Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and tremor – and outline the efficacy and associated risks for DBS. This includes knowledge about the different brain targets used for DBS and their effects on specific symptoms
Discuss role of Botulinum toxin therapy for movement disorders
This course will be directed toward neurologists in China.
