Course Description

Since the first Basic Science Summer School (BSSS) was held in Taipei (2014), the BSSS has become a representative education course in MDS-AOS. The aim of the course is to promote the next generation of scientists and young clinicians with interest in the recent advances of clinical and preclinical disciplines in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders; to create a common language and generate ideas that will allow development of translational research projects by the next generation researchers in Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. This course will attract more young clinicians and scientists focusing on Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders in the future.

In the MDS-AOS Basic and Clinical Science School in Seoul, we focus more on learning about principles and applications of various scientific tools which can be used in the field of movement disorders. Invited speakers are distinguished specialists on their scientific topics. The participants could get insights and information to develop their own study ideas. Also, they could present their research and will get the chance to discuss with faculties and peers.

Recommended Audience

This course is recommended for movement disorder specialists, neurology residents, young scientists, and researchers.

Learning Objectives 
  • Educate participants about various clinical tools which can be applied in movement disorder research

  • Introduce principles and applications of recent advances in basic science field which can be used in movement disorder research

  • Provide practical guides for performing genetic studies and interpreting its results in movement disorder field
