The course aims to cover an important topic in the movement disorders field, which addresses movement disorders presenting in an acute setting in hospitals or clinics across the world. The course will cover a broad range of emergencies, which can be encountered in emergency departments, general practitioner surgeries, or inpatient wards for general neurology. The emergencies the course will cover include neuroleptic malignant syndrome, acute parkinsonism, Parkinson hyperpyrexia syndrome, acute hyperkinetic movement disorders, serotonin syndrome, psychosis in PD, dystonic storm, as well as specific conditions. The participants will have the opportunity to learn phenomenology of these syndromes and practical approach of the treatment.
Each day, the first block of lectures is followed by interactive case discussion with question and answer by online voting by participants. The second block of lectures is followed by live panel discussion with moderated question and answer.
This course is intended for general neurologists with an interest in managing and evaluating movement disorders emergencies.
