Course Description

The aim of the course is to promote the next generation of scientists and young clinicians with interest in the latest advances of clinical and preclinical disciplines in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders; to create a common language and generate ideas that will allow development of translational research projects by the next generation researchers in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. This course will attract more young clinicians and scientists focusing on Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders in the future.

This course consists of morning expert lectures and afternoon group discussion sessions. Lectures include scientific topics on faculty research, clinical knowledge of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, and discussion on how to make an oral presentation. As participants present their individual research, they will have the opportunity to interact with faculty and peers. All participants will have the chance to interact with faculty and peers to discuss basic science and clinical practice of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders during cross talk sessions.

Learning Objectives
  • Describe the etiology, pathophysiology, neurodegenerative and neuroprotective mechanisms and management of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders
  • Interact with basic scientists and movement disorders specialists
  • Learn about the importance of translating knowledge from basic sciences into the development of new treatments
  • Understand how to make oral presentation at academic meetings

 

Recommended Audience

This course is intended for young general neurologists, young movement disorder specialists, graduate students, post-doctoral students and junior scientists who are under the age of 40.
