About Movement Disorders Journal

Movement Disorders, the official Journal of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, is a highly read and referenced journal covering all topics of the field - both clinical and basic science. Subscribers receive supplements on special topics in addition to the monthly issues of the journal.

We are pleased to advise the readership of Movement Disorders that the impact factor for the journal has increased to 4.558. This ranks 24th among 190 clinical neurology journals, and represents the 5th consecutive year in which the impact factor of the journal has increased. Indeed, all major measures of the journal's performance have improved including the 5-year impact factor, total citations, immediacy index, citation half-life, Eigenfactor, and article influence factor.

The journal's Eigenfactor ranked 8th among all clinical neurology journals. Eigenfactor is an increasingly important rating which considers the quality of journals in which citations to articles occur, and provides a measure of a journal's total importance to the scientific community. We are grateful for the contributions of the editorial board and reviewers, and are hopeful that clinical and basic science researchers in the field of movement disorders will continue to send their best papers to Movement Disorders.

The average length of time from acceptance to launch on the Journal website (official publication date) is approximately 6 weeks. For more information, visit www.movementdisordersjournal.com.

About Movement Disorders - Clinical Practice

Movement Disorders—Clinical Practice is the new exclusively online journal from the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society. Debuting in 2014, the sister publication to Movement Disorders, Movement Disorders-Clinical Practice seeks to publish peer-reviewed articles that are focused on clinical practice and educational issues relevant to movement disorders neurology.

Particular emphasis will be placed on updates in clinical patient management, new advances in clinical diagnosis, novel observations on phenomenology, and practice-related management. This journal will also publish important individual case presentations, case series, and vignettes with and without accompanied videos.

MDS' Editorial Search Committee has selected editors for the Eastern and Western hemisphere positions for Chief Editors of  Movement Disorders – Clinical Practice. Kailash Bhatia, MD, DM, FRCP, London, United Kingdom, and Marcelo Merello, MD, PhD, Buenos Aires, Argentina, have been selected to serve as the editors of this new MDS publication.
