Application deadline: October 30, 2026
About the Program
Step into the other side of translational medicine by working on a collaborative project.
Pairs of clinical residents and basic science trainees can apply for funding and mentorship for a collaborative translational project. As you develop your project, share rich insights about research and clinical perspectives with exchange visits to each other’s institution.
Who Should Apply
Applicants must apply as a pair of:
- One Clinical Resident (MD)
- One Basic Science Trainee (PhD Student or Postdoctoral Fellow – 1st year)
Both should be Members of MDS who live in the MDS-European Section.
Program Details
Program period: January - December 2027
If you are selected, you will complete a collaborative translational project with your partner under the guidance of a senior MDS-ES mentor.
Each accepted project pair will receive a grant of up to $3,000 USD to support travel costs associated with an exchange visit to each partner’s institution:
- Basic science trainees will observe clinical care and patient interactions.
- Clinical residents will gain exposure to laboratory methods and research approaches.
Basic scientists will have a unique opportunity to gain insight into clinical aspects and applications of movement disorders, and clinicians will deepen their understanding of experimental models, methods, and scientific approaches.
