Apply to Host: MDS Schools
A unique opportunity to train the next generation of Movement Disorder specialists
Your institution can apply to host upcoming MDS Asian & Oceanian Section (MDS-AOS) schools in 2026-2028, including:
- School for Young Neurologists
- Basic Science School
- School for Clinical Neurophysiology of Movement Disorders
Schools are two days long and may include lectures, clinical examination rounds, video case presentations, and various other workshops. They also include also evening events, like a networking reception or case discussion dinner, after the first day of the program.
Criteria
Because the school programs are highly interactive, potential host centers must:
- The host institution must be able to provide the following meeting space:
- One (1) lecture theater/classroom for maximum 115 people for two consecutive days – with audiovisual equipment for lectures (projector, screen, and sound amplification).
- Four (4) to six (6) examination or workshop breakout rooms in close proximity to each other.
- Function space outside lecture hall to have catered tea/coffee and lunch breaks for up to 115 people (faculty, students, staff).
- Function space outside of lecture hall to accommodate corporate sponsor exhibit tables (each table no larger than 2 meters in length).
- Optional: space near the patient examination rooms for a patient and caregiver lounge during patient rounds.
- Please describe anticipated fees associated with rental of the lecture hall and clinical examination space.
- The institution should be able to recruit a wide range of patients with different movement disorders to participate in the examinations.
- Local faculty to serve as lecturers and leaders of clinical examination rounds and student video cases. Total school faculty should be 10-12 (including course directors) with at least one half coming from the host city.
- The host city should have ample reasonably priced hotel accommodation (maximum $250 USD) available for students, in reasonable proximity to the host institution.
- Schools include one evening event: an educational video dinner or a networking reception. Recommendations for reasonably priced event venues are encouraged.
