Independent Translations Disclaimer
MDS maintains a Translation Program that oversees translations of select clinical outcome assessments (COAs) developed by the Society. At present, this oversight applies to four MDS-developed COAs – the MDS-UPDRS, MDS-NMS, MDS-NMS-Q, and UDysRS.
For all other COAs within the Society’s portfolio, any available translations have been independently developed outside of the MDS Translation Program. While the Society may license these translations for use in research, clinical studies, or routine patient care, such licensing is not an official endorsement, certification, or validation of the translation by the Society.
Accordingly, use of these externally developed translations is at the discretion and risk of the user. The Society does not guarantee, and is not responsible for, the linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, psychometric performance, or regulatory acceptability of these translations.
MDS recognizes the benefits of offering various language versions of its COAs. MDS makes translations available to help advance research in movement disorders and to enhance the clinical care of people with movement disorders worldwide, consistent with the Society’s nonprofit mission.
If you are interested in previewing a translation or learning more about the translation methodology and supporting documentation available for a specific version, please contact us at ratingscales@movementdisorders.org. Certificates of Translation can also be provided upon request if available.
