The modified Unified Wilson’s Disease Rating Scale (mUWDRS) is a multi-item scale designed to evaluate daily living activities and the severity of neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients with Wilson's Disease (WD). Its development included patient focus groups, Delphi panel rounds, and cognitive interviews to capture the full spectrum of symptoms. It is valid and reliable for measuring disease severity in WD patients. The scale consists of three parts. Part I assesses a single item - level of consciousness- ranked on a scale from 0 (no symptoms) to 3 (coma). Part II is partially self-reported, evaluating the patient’s perception of symptom severity over one month. Each item is scored on a scale from 0 (no disability/severity) to 4 (maximal disability/severity). Part III includes a neurological examination conducted by a physician. Each item is rated on a scale from 0 (no disability/severity) to 4 (maximal disability/severity), and there are dichotomous (yes/no) ratings for five items. The maximum score for the scale is 210, with higher scores indicating greater disability.
