Movement Disorders Impact Factor Rises to 8.679

MILWAUKEE, WI – The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) is pleased to announce that the Movement Disorders Journal impact factor has increased to 8.679, now ranking 11 out of 204 Clinical Neurology titles, according to the 2019 Clarivate Analytics InCites Journal Citation Reports rankings.

The impact factor of an academic journal is a performance measure based on the yearly average number of citations to recently published articles during the previous two years. This latest statistic marks the highest impact factor for the Journal to date, rising from 8.061 in 2018. The continued increase in impact factor reflects the number of citations resulting from the high quality research being published in Movement Disorders.

Editor-in-Chief, A. Jon Stoessl, CM, MD, FRCPC, FCAHS, states, “We are of course all delighted about the further growth in journal impact. This speaks to the high quality of important work that is published in the journal and reflects the outstanding leadership and vision of José Obeso, as well as the team of people who have worked on the Journal over the past three years. The commitment of our authors, reviewers and editors have all contributed to the journal’s success. We look forward to receiving the highest quality and authoritative submissions on clinical and translational aspects of basal ganglia function and dysfunction in the future.”

MDS President, Claudia Trenkwalder, MD, adds, “In these difficult times, it is even more important to acknowledge the high quality research reflected in this extraordinary journal. The former and current editors, José Obeso and Jon Stoessl, and their teams have achieved a fantastic success for the Journal and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society - we are so proud of them! I can only congratulate the editors and their strategic efforts to increase translational research in Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders. This success unifies us as a global society with articles from all parts of the world.”
