Women's SIG event celebrates Susan Fox, MDS President-Elect

The MDS Women in Movement Disorders Special Interest Group had its annual networking event October 7,2025, at the International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders® in Honolulu. More than 100 women gathered in the Pa Kaloka Courtyard at the Hawaii Convention Center for appetizers, networking, and a themed networking scavenger hunt connecting attendees.

This annual event celebrates women in movement disorders at all stages of their careers in a variety of clinical and research roles within and outside academia. It is also intended to deepen relationships between the women, forge new ones, and gather new ideas for this Special Interest Group.

In addition to a focus on convening with friends and colleagues and making new connections, the event celebrated the inauguration of Susan Fox, MRCP (UK), PhD, as the MDS President-Elect. Dr. Fox will be the second woman to serve as MDS President, following Claudia Trenkwalder, MD (2019-2021). The special interest group celebrated Dr. Fox with a fresh lei, recognition from colleagues, and a champagne toast. Dr. Fox expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue to partner with MDS members and volunteers as the President-Elect. She also echoed thoughts she shared previously during a leadership spotlight interview, stating that working within the MDS is one of the biggest achievements and highlights of her career.
