Committee Purpose
The Rating Scales Electronic Development Committee was formed in June 2017 as an committee of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) Rating Scales Program. There is an increased interest from industry and non-profit organizations to use MDS-owned and managed scales in an electronic format such as tablets, mobile devices, or online platforms (e-platforms/e-scales). In order to maintain the integrity of MDS-owned scales, MDS formed a committee to oversee the development of approved electronic builds and recommend guidelines and solutions for electronic development of rating scales.

The primary function of the Rating Scales Electronic Development Committee will be to:

  • Establish standards and guidelines for electronic scale development and electronic assessment tools
  • Provide supervision and guidance for validation and implementation of electronic scale build outs
  • Oversee and review approved electronic scale build outs by industry and other organizations with a focus on maintaining the integrity of the scale
  • Advise and recommend solutions for issues related to electronic development, device and technology use of MDS-owned rating scales
