Submit "Allied Advice" Videos

Share important tips with your global colleagues

MDS Members can submit short video tips for consideration for the Allied Advice video series.

Your tips can be related to physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise, speech pathology, nutrition, sexual health, genetic counseling, or any of the variety of other vital non-physician health services that are important for movement disorders care.

A good Allied Advice tip:

  • Can be used by other health professionals (is not geared toward patients)
  • May not be commonly known
  • Can be well explained in 1-2 minutes (1 tip per video)

Video Guidelines

In your video:

  1. Briefly introduce yourself and your affiliation.
  2. Fully explain your tip, including what to look for, the implications, and what to do next. If there is a reason this tip is often overlooked, clarify that as well.
  3. Recap the tip clearly in 1 brief sentence.
Length: About 2 minutes max. Brevity is preferred, but allow all the time you need to ensure your tip is clear and easy to understand.
Editing and Graphics: MDS will do all editing and graphics for your video, but you may use minimal visual aids to help illustrate your point.
Lighting: Use overhead or lighting set in front of you (not behind you).
Background: Consider your background. Don’t choose a location that is too cluttered or distracting.
Framing: Film horizontally, and frame yourself far enough away that your head isn’t cut off at the top, and your shoulders are visible.
Sound: Minimize distractions or other sounds. Silence phones and close any apps or sites that may send audio notifications. If you’re filming on a phone, switch it to Airplane Mode.
Language: Be conversational. Use simple, accessible language to broaden your reach. Be mindful that English may not be viewers' first language.
