Updated Digital Tools and Technologies Repository shines a light on the emerging technology landscape
Emerging digital tools for movement disorders are expanding faster than any single clinician can track, so the MDS Digital Tools and Technologies Repository (DTTR), an initiative of the Web Editorial Board, has been rebuilt to keep pace.
The newly revamped repository features submissions from international research teams, early-stage startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and multinational corporations developing technologies for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. The directory spans apps, software platforms, and standalone devices — including tools that deliver insights and data within and beyond the clinic, tools that optimize data collection in real-world environments, and tools that support clinicians and researchers in their daily work.
"We want to provide ready access to the growing roster of validated technologies, including verified contact details, so our members don't have to track down decision-makers through contact forms or generic company email addresses, said John Dean, MA CCC-SLP, the MDS Website Editor. “We've also established an ongoing maintenance plan to incorporate new entities as they emerge and ensure that current details remain up to date in this ever-evolving landscape."
The renaming of the resource from the "Digital App Repository" to the "Digital Tools and Technologies Repository" reflects the growing breadth of what's emerging in our field. Behind the scenes, more substantive changes have raised the bar, including stricter submission guidelines that now require a higher standard of peer-reviewed evidence for inclusion, and enhanced disclaimer language to bring greater clarity and transparency to every listing.
Help grow the Digital Tools and Technologies Repository:
- Explore the repository to see what's currently available across your areas of practice.
- Submit a tool — the DTTR is actively accepting applications from research teams and developers building technologies with sufficient peer-reviewed support. Participation is completely free.
- Share with colleagues and developers in your network. The repository's value grows with the breadth and quality of its submissions.
