YMG Co-Chair Report

Aim
The aim of the MDS Young Members Group (YMG) is to showcase the YMG activities through the webpage and various communication platforms (including Facebook and Twitter), and to integrate and work within MDS.

Since the launch of the MDS-YMG, the objectives of the YMG-steering Committee have been to identify:

  • What to communicate to group members and the society;
  • How to communicate within the group, the MDS Society, and with members around the world;
  • How to attract new young members to MDS and the YMG; and
  • How to maintain members’ interest to encourage engagement with the YMG and MDS.

Progress

Discussions amongst the MDS-YMG-Steering committee, leadership, and secretaries are carried out via email and bi-montlhy teleconferences.

The MDS-YMG continues to explore ways to further facilitate conversations among early-career professionals throughout the world. One method of achieving this has been through the development of new projects and initiatives. The MDS-YMG welcomes individuals to see the group’s project updates and upcoming activities within the sections provided on the YMG webpage. Reports and requests for volunteers are planned to be posted to the YMG webpage as they become available.

Communications and Future YMG-Events
The MDS-YMG intends to use social media and other platforms as a medium for fast communication, and resource/event promotion. The YMG will also use these platforms, along with email notices, to announce and promote specific activities that may be of interest to young professionals that are planned, hosted, or supported by MDS.

The YMG will also inform members of when MDS-YMG activities may be taking place at the MDS International Congress or the various Regional Congresses organized by the Society.

The MDS-YMG invites you to watch for updates regarding specially organized MDS-YMG meetings to occur at the MDS PAS-Congress in Miami, FL, USA in February 2020, along with the MDS International Congress planned for September 22-26, 2019, in Nice, France.

Going Forward
Watch for updates to the MDS-YMG webpage as well as future emails from the Chair and Co-Chair for information and resources compiled by young professionals of the Society for other Young professionals of MDS.
