A message from the MDS President
Dear members,
Over the past several months, we have continued reviewing our Strategic Plan and dozens of action plans proposed by committees and groups across the Society. It has been inspiring to see so many innovative ideas emerge from every corner of MDS. The creativity, ambition, and commitment reflected in these plans reinforce my confidence in what we can accomplish together, and I look forward to seeing these ideas come to life in the months ahead.
As we think about the future of MDS, I believe it will be shaped by the voices we choose to elevate today. One important new initiative already taking shape is incorporating the voices of patients and carers into our work.
MDS is developing a network of patient and carer volunteers who are interested in contributing to the Society’s mission and activities. Their experiences will bring invaluable perspective to our projects, research, and programs, helping us ensure that our work remains grounded in the needs of those we serve.
Help support this initiative: I encourage you to share this opportunity with your patients and carers who may be interested in contributing to the advancement of movement disorders care, education, and research through MDS activities. If your group would benefit from patient or carer involvement, please contact your staff liaison, who can connect you with the appropriate resources and contacts.
Another vital voice we must continue to uplift within the Society: our young, emerging members, whose fresh ideas can lead us forward. MDS is fortunate to have a vibrant and highly engaged Young Members Group whose energy, fresh perspectives, and willingness to challenge convention is essential as we prepare the next generation of leaders for our Society and our field. I encourage all groups and committees to provide meaningful opportunities for them to contribute and be heard. By investing in the next generation today, we strengthen the future of our Society for years to come.
Finally, I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming International Congress in Seoul. Our Congress remains one of the most important opportunities for our global community to connect, exchange ideas, and shape the future of movement disorders together. I am excited for the conversations, discoveries, and connections that await us there.
Thank you again for your leadership and partnership. Together, we continue to advance our shared mission and improve the lives of people living with movement disorders worldwide.
