MDS offers a School for Neurology Residents in collaboration with the Michael J. Fox Foundation to encourage more young neurologists to specialize in this field.

Shortages of healthcare workers, especially specialist care, are often most pronounced in areas with a Lack of Resources or low Socioeconomic Status, as well as in Rural Areas where the overall population is less concentrated. 

In areas with fewer providers, each clinician will see a higher number of patients, and therefore will be more likely to encounter Rare and Understudied Diseases
